The Only Strategy You Need to Maintain Balance When Life Gets Chaotic
It’s that time of year…..and I see you frantically Googling, “How do I keep it together when life feels like a never-ending circus?”
Do others in your circle make juggling work, family, self-care, and everything else look effortless? Ever wonder what their secret is?
Most likely, they’re using some variation of the strategy I’m about to share with you. I call it the Pivot and Balance Method—because, let’s face it, midlife is all about learning to pivot and regain your balance when life throws you curveballs.
Luckily, I’m not one to gatekeep sanity strategies.
So grab a warm cup of tea (or let’s be real, a strong coffee) and let’s dive into how you can restore balance amidst the chaos and feel more like yourself by the end of the month.
Clarify Your Balance Goals
Before we jump into the nitty-gritty, let’s pause and reflect: What does balance actually mean to you?
If you’ve struggled to maintain balance in the past, it might be because the goal wasn’t clear. Maybe you were trying to do it all without defining what "all" even meant.
Here’s how you can clarify your balance goals:
What does balance look like in your current season of life?
Why is this important to you?
Is your version of balance realistic, given your current responsibilities and resources?
Once you answer these questions, you’ll have a clear picture of what you’re working toward.
What is the Pivot and Balance Method?
If you’ve heard of “balance” before, you might think it means having every part of your life perfectly aligned. Spoiler alert: that’s not how life works.
The Pivot and Balance Method is about flexibility. It’s about acknowledging that chaos is inevitable but equipping yourself with tools to shift your focus, adjust your priorities, and make intentional choices when things feel overwhelming.
To put it simply, this strategy is about giving yourself the tools to respond—not react—to life’s messiness.
The Only Strategy You Need: The Pivot and Balance Method Ready? Let’s dig in.
Part 1: Be Intentional with Your Priorities
Studies show that people who intentionally set priorities are more likely to feel in control of their lives.
When life feels chaotic, it’s tempting to try to fix everything at once. The key is to stop and focus on what truly matters.
Here’s how to prioritize effectively:
List your non-negotiables. These are the things that matter most—your health, relationships, or key responsibilities.
Let go of the unnecessary. Ask yourself, “Does this really need my attention right now?”
Set micro-goals. Focus on one thing at a time and celebrate small wins.
Part 2: Stop Relying on Quick Fixes
Have you been hopping from one “hack” to another, hoping for instant relief? Quick fixes might feel good in the moment, but they rarely address the root cause of the chaos.
Back when I first started managing my own practice, I thought squeezing in a 10-minute meditation once a week would make me feel “balanced.” Spoiler alert: It didn’t.
It wasn’t until I committed to creating consistent self-care routines that I felt the weight of chaos begin to lift.

Part 3: Create a Support System
When life gets chaotic, it’s easy to isolate yourself. But the truth is, balance often requires a team effort.
Building a support system doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you’re smart enough to recognize that no one can do it all alone.
Here’s how to build your system:
Delegate tasks. Let go of the guilt and allow others to help.
Connect with your community. Lean on friends, family, or groups that uplift you.
Seek professional support. Whether it’s therapy, coaching, or simply outsourcing something that’s overwhelming you, professional support can be a game-changer.
Review and Reflect Regularly
While the Pivot and Balance Method is powerful, it’s not a “set it and forget it” solution. Life changes, and so should your approach.
Take time to reflect on these questions every few weeks:
What’s working in my strategy?
What isn’t serving me anymore?
Where do I need to pivot to regain my balance?
One time, I launched a new routine that seemed perfect on paper but left me drained in practice. It wasn’t until I stepped back, reassessed, and adjusted my expectations that I found something that truly worked.
SOOOOOO….LET’S WRAP THIS UP……
Maintaining balance isn’t about perfection—it’s about being flexible, intentional, and kind to yourself as you navigate life’s twists and turns.
